For the people working the breakfast shift, I apologize for the mess. I wasn't myself during that flood for a lot longer than I wanted, but I just cleaned up the last of it. If there's anything missing or broken that I didn't get to, let me know and I'll take care of it, okay?

[She pretends not to notice, and for a minute she's pacing. She hasn't done that in front of him since that time he punched her outside of Crane's cabin.]

He said so many things I don't know where to begin.

You don't have to explain yourself to me.

The Hell I don't. You might not have believed him when he said I wasn't coming back but you didn't reject much else, and you had no reason to. He knew everything I knew; he knew which buttons to push.

I don't know how much of it was really him.

Well then why don't you pick one and go from there?

He mentioned a lot about you not wanting to deal with me, except to pass judgement.

[She stops short to look at him.] Judgment about what? I'm not here to judge you, Henry, I'm here to do what I can to help you.

About what I d-- allowed to happen, considering-- Do I honestly have to explain it to you? You must remember everything from your time as him; I certainly did with Hannah.

[Morgan takes a step toward him, pointing.] I have told you more than once that I do not hold that incident against you. And the fact that you'd take the word of a man over mine, a man that took one look at you the minute you met him then pummeled you stupid, is fucking insulting!

It's not as though I know when, exactly, you left the building!

And what was running through your head that gave him the impression that I have... [He waves a hand, trying to think of the word] dalliances with the male wardens?

[She holds a hand to her head, back to pacing again] He was ribbing at you about Jim. It's one of the reasons why I wanted him far away from you. He's had some of his own men keelhauled for even being accused of -- [she trails off -- not even sure how she should put that, since it certainly wasn't 'sleeping with' them that was a problem. She gestures vaguely] -- with other men, even if they weren't willing.

Ah. Well, I'm quite fortunate he didn't try that out.

He was going to kill you, Henry.

That's fine. It certainly wouldn't be the first time somebody's tried.

Is there anything else you'd like out in the open? Anything else you think I haven't been forthcoming about?

Why was he going to kill me?

Because if he couldn't make you do what he wanted, he was going to leave as big a mess as possible for me to clean up afterward.

I see. How nice it is, to be a means to an end.

[She sighs.] I'm sorry, Henry. I'm so very sorry that you had to go through that.

Well, there's nothing you can do about it.

[She folds her arms and sits down on one of the chairs huddled around in the middle of the room, mumbling.]

And I am not punishing you for things that happened to me.

Why not?

[It isn't that he wants to be punished-- well, maybe some weird guilty part of him does-- but it's more that he doesn't get how she can't be spiteful]

You didn't do it, first of all. [She glances over her shoulder at him.] You know I don't exactly hold it against him, either.

How could you not hold it against him?

The man that killed me in Silent Hill wasn't my Inmate anymore. [She realizes how that must sound.] The man that I looked after, that I taught, and learned from, and protected, would never have done that. It never would have entered his mind. That's not to say that he was without fault, or that he never caused me trouble. He did. But Silent Hill was beyond him.
