I prefer to give him his space. If he wants to keep to himself, I'm not going to stop him, but I want to be sure that's what happening, and that he hasn't just up and vanished.

And how do you really know that? It happens here-- quite frequently, in fact. I'm not saying that I hope it's the case, only that it's quite likely, given the tendency for people to drop off the face of the Barge without any warning.
